So I've been out of town at work almost immediately after my engagement to my girlfriend. First thing my buddies at work said was a mix between congratulations and "are you stupid". Ha I believe I'm making the best decision plus both of our families are excited.
So here is some more news, an opening back home! I found out that one of our districts in East Texas is accepting transfers. Which means I may have a chance to leave the Northeast, closer to home at last. The downside is that if the transfer happens my work schedule will change, from two weeks working and one week off, to a six days on and three days off. That translates to even less time at home but more money.
I want it but it is a heavy price to pay. Being in the oilfield is not easy work, even harder on our families. I spend most of the month away just to come home for 6-7 days. Many of my previous relationships have failed because of my schedule. Which is why I'm so thankful that I have this gift of a woman in my life. Even when I work for 5 weeks straight just to come home for 5 days, she has been by my side.
Y'all, I'm in a happy place these days. Plus, today is our anniversary! As soon as I land I'm going to pick her up in my arms, twirl her around, give her a kiss then together drive off into the sunset...true story and happens every time I land.
