we have wedding venue.
we were coming back from breakfast downtown and a trip to get a new stove when i realised we were passing Brackenridge Park.
"babe, can we make a quick stop?"
so we pull into the parking lot by the zoo, get out and walk the 40 yards or so to Koehler pavilion.
Its lovely. Right by the river. Far back enough that there won't be crazy traffic coming through but close enough to the parking lot that guests wont have to walk forever.
The pavillion is about 1200 square feet, I figure. There is a 2 level deck around the backside that separates the pavilion from the river that will add another 400-500 square feet (which id like to use for the ceremony). Sucker is pretty big. And the pavilion part is covered with open sides so if it rains, we can still have the wedding.
There are a bunch of picnic tables there but they arent bolted so they can be moved and replaced with nice round tables. Lots of outlets to use both on the deck and in the pavilion.
The track for the Brackenridge Eagle train runs right by it. Photo - Op what???
So, yeah. I have to find out where to go pay for it and reserve it for the afternoon/evening. oh, and speaking of....the space? $100 for 4 hours plus $25 for each additional hour. And yes, we can bring booze. Lots of booze. Which means we can have a proper open bar for cheap. All of a sudden I am back to my 2500$ budget!! FUCK TO THE YES. AND, we can invite more than just the 50 we had planned. So, cheaper, still beautiful and twice the people.

It sounds like an awesome location (a river and tracks??). Congrats!

That place is so amazingly beautiful! I visited it once about two years ago but that was when it was still empty and desolate. I see they have remodeled it since. Excellent venue selection! What a steal too!
