The phone call at dinner was from my mom.
My dad died.
I'm more relieved than sad, I think. I've been so worried for so long now. I feel more like he died when he had his stroke back in early July than I do tonight.
(I'm rather glad I had two drinks with dinner.)
I hope everything works out okay for my dad's wife and his best friend, David. David has kind of relied on my dad for emotional and financial support for a long time now (my dad hired him as his assistant, and saved his life once when David tried to kill himself -- so they were really bound together.)
When I go down for the funeral sometime this week or next, I hope I can bring back something of his that he used a lot like one of his guitars. That would mean a lot more to me than inheriting any of his acres of computer equipment or insurance money.
Here's some links to some of my dad's commercial artwork for Corbis, the stock photo house:

I'm not going to eulogize him here, except to say that he didn't see this coming and so he never got to do his best work. I'm sorry that the world never showed up on his doorstep.

In a belated answer to your question, tile games. Kind of like a choose-your-own-path board game.
