Holy shit, snow!

Talked to my client with the five-foot-thick questionnaire today. He asked if I was serious about building software to make his survey work given my quoted price of $20k and a month for development.
Between you and me, I just threw that out there. It was a "might as well mention it" solution to his problem, not something I imagined he could actually afford.
He'll tell me later today if it's a go. He seemed to be seriously considering it.
It would be nice to pay off my taxes for 2004 and 2005. You know, if I could do that, I'd really feel like I had a successful business for the first time in years. Maybe I could stop worrying all the time about money and be a better friend. I wouldn't owe anybody anything; I'd get a second chance to start at zero.
It would be really, really nice.
I can't express in text how relieved I would be.

Later update: Got the project!
(I'll see you all in January!)
