I started out excited. There was plenty of parking at the station, open seats on the lightrail, and the security guard didn't bother me once. I had my list of lightrail stations, certain I wouldn't get lost. It happened anyway. I finally got off at Union Station...a ways from campus. Turns out I was on the 'C' route....needed to be on the 'D'. It took me back to Auraria Campus West...after ten minutes of walking/jogging I made it to my first class. BIG sign on the door 'Womens studies Cancelled Today ONLY'. I walked outside, lit up a cigarette, and sat down on a chalk-covered bench. Bright blue chalk. My ass and legs are now bright blue.
most people would call it a day at that.
Passing by the plaza a guy calls out "Come talk to me for 90 seconds! please just 90 seconds. It's for my thesis". Being the idiot I can be, I walk over.
Him: "Thanks for coming over. I'm doing a thesis for political science".
Me:"What kind of thesis?"
Him:" Yeah, my parents want me to be a senator but I'm going for governor".
Me:"good idea".
Him"I'm taking a survey to see how many people come talk to me"
Me:"For political science????"
Him: "so far 43 people wouldn't and three have. So whats your name? I'm Dave"
(me=big urge to run)
Me: "Christine. Well I need to get going"
Him:"Thats a beautiful name christine. Hope to see you soon christine"
Me: "take care"
he starts YELLING!!!! "good to meet you christine, beautiful name! see you soon christine!"
he doesnt stop. I hear him all the way to the tivoli. That's it, going home now. Nope.......vented to a friend, had a snack, snoozed in student lounge, and went to my last class....which was awesome
Not bad for my first day. I'm at home now, listening to the insolent transmission (freaking great internet show) , and reading my first chapter.
