Lately I'm really into Nina Simone. When I listen to Ne Me Quitte Pas on my ipod, I absolutely cannot stop myself from singing along when she gets to the part about Moi, je t'offrirai, des perles de pluie... I also like Pirate Jenny (I'm counting their heads as I'm making the beds, ain't nobody gonna sleep here tonight!).
I may look like an insane...

Blargh!!!!!!!! My f#$%$#@@*ing blog post just got eaten!
Here's the short version:

I bought tickets to one of moisture festival's burlesque performances today.
I also bought lots of clothes, but not my most coveted item: cowboy boots. I have an unholy lust for a pair of cowboy boots. I don't know where it came from, but I figure I might as well scratch the itch....

I just got home from work. It's midnight, but I'm never tired when I get home. Honestly, I could stay up until 2 or 3 every night and then sleep in until noon every day. That would be my preferred schedule. Sadly, I do that on weekends, and then it bites me on the ass when I have to get up early on Monday. Oh...

you can't beat the citrus drop, though! exactly the same but mix in an orange wedge or two. delicious. also amazing with citronage...
and i think the kamikaze is easier. as is my personal favorite, the gin martini. but with all gin. all you do: gin, ice, shake vigorously for a while and strain into a classy looking stem.
BUT! on to what i came over to comment about.
i'd love to get out and meet the greater SG community and i'm glad you brought up going. i always feel kinda like some creep when i suggest meeting up with folks from here. i guess that means i can't really be too much of a creep since i worry about it but still, sadly, nothing.
but anyway, i haven't been to that p-patch yet but now i'll have to make a point of it. weeding date? i'd love to see it with someone who's in the know.
i am beyond excited that my skullcap is sprouting. i've now got four babies!! so if you want a great nervine you may have some of mine.
getting to be too much of a comment here so i'm cutting it short. read you soon!

oh and that's why i love gin! i actually have a few tinctures of various gymnosperms started. i've got ponderosa pine and rocky mountain juniper. they're really intense because they're at about 180 proof. but i do love me some wiskey, too. i actually like protestant irish wiskeys better than catholic (why am i made to feel bad about that?) but i really have a love for bourbon. i tend to drink my hard liquors neat or very nearly so. cuba libres are great, though, in the summer.
basically i'm really free during the week this week and next and this week i work thursday at 6:00pm then again on saturday and sunday from 10-4pm or so. I work down in madison park so your plot is actually between work and home.
is it odd i have a crush on your book list? i haven't read a single one through but every time i look into them i think i should get to it.

I just finished my last essay for this quarter. It was about Eleanor of Aquitaine, and the social background of Marie de France's Lais. I'm so glad it's done, and this quarter's essentially done (I have one final left). I really needed to be done. My enthusiasm was waning rapidly.

first, did you seal the calendula off in their own little potted area? they can spread pretty fast on you. other than that i have the highest respect for vervain as a way of keeping pests off of your crops, sunflowers because they're just fucking awesome smile, yarrow, skullcap, catnip (it's not just for cats anymore!) comfrey, gentian, garlic, blue flag iris, licorice and st. john's wort as far as herbs. i just began to read about while indigo and i think it might be interesting, as well.
as far as food crops i love love love tomatoes but be sure it's a cherry tomato or it might not ripen fully since they like more heat. and i am actually required, as a bastyr student, to recommend kale wink. it is pretty damned good for you, though. i love leafy greens, we're putting in a whole section of them in our garden plot.
and those are fantastic pieces! i'm kind of a mid-level knitter. i can do all the basics with my eyes closed but things like fishermans ribs make me a bit queasy still. oh, and i'm not in ravelry as of yet. also not entirely sure i have time for more stuff...
damned, you got a long reply. teach me to get excited about my plants tongue

you know, if i could get into the group i might come to more. let me know when one is going on? i've applied a few times, actually. i've been on here a few years now and so it seems ridiculous so me not to be accepted into a group for a city in which i live but oh well.
calendula is amazing stuff for cuts and scrapes, so you know. just pick the flowers and dry them. also, they can't go to seed on you if the flowers are off.
i do love broccoli greens and tops and i know they do just fine here because i keep stealing the greens from somebody a few blocks up the way from me. kale is great for you, i think cucumbers do alright. i'm getting into my first full on food garden out here as we speak, as well, so i'm not totally sure.
i'm so excited to till under our cover crop and plant my herbs around the house! it's gonna be rocking for sure.
let me know if you need some help with the patch. are you doing the one up at the top of the Ave by that old school?
