Just heard some terrible news, a cousin of mine has murdered someone.
I'm so shocked that I don't really know how to react to news like that.

That's a whole new kind of shock, I imagine. I just had a close friend put in prison for child molestation and related crimes. It brings up all kinds of emotions: disbelief, anger, betrayal, pity, you name it. Hope you're able to make some peace with this. It takes time.
