On a very serious note, because I'm starting to stress over this stuff:
OK so I need to apply to grad schools. There are some problems I'm seeing that if anyone has any advice for, please don't hesitate:
- a less than impressive GPA (of course I had mono for 2 years which sucked the life out of my grades, but that's besides the point)
- maybe one formidable reference (my academic advisor at Purdue), out of 3 needed (transferring schools put a damper on building personal relationships with faculty)
- never had the chance to do any internships in my field, so really lacking in extra-curricular experience directly related to psychology (I do have some volunteer experience from a long time ago in social services, and my gymnastics coaching job was good experience but very indirect)
- no publications
If the program I want to apply for does not require GRE scores, should I take them anyway to help with the noncompetitive-GPA factor?
Would references from non-major course instructors be acceptible?
Where is a good start to find work in the Vegas area that would be directly related to psychology (counseling or otherwise) with a Bachelor's degree, so that I can build my resume?
