Hey! So as you guys are probably aware, Rambo and Missy have been giving the girls topics to talk about in our blogs.
Something i have always found interesting is Sound Engineering.
I spent 3 years in college studying for it and graduated in 2010.
So i just want to show you guys some of my favourite things to work with -
My favourite microphone to work with is a U87...
It's a really well known condenser mic used in studios. I think people either love it or hate it. It has 3 settings to it - omni, cardioid and figure-8. it was a lot of fun to use, We didn't have many musicians handy during our course so we got together as a group and recorded music.
I was in a band for 6 years
I played guitar and vocals. It was with my two best friends, it was the best experience of my life.
We wrote our own songs and done some covers - mostly Hole... which reminds me...
The one and only courtney love started following me on instagram. <3 she spoke to me! Way too hyper about this. She is my idol.
Anyway, back to the sound engineering side of my life.
Since college, ive not been very active in Sound Production but have had some very good opportunities thrown at me lately for some live sound in Glasgow. I personally prefer studio work because there isn't a rush to get things done and if something goes wrong, you have time on your side. With live, it's all very rushed and if something goes wrong you have to fix it 'NOW!'
I think i have a better ear when it comes to mixing a song. I loved playing about with the different effects and mastering it at the end.
I'm so glad i joined the course in Perth, i met some amazing people and got to work with some amazing equipment.
My favourite studio was called Eastlake 1...
Again, sorry the photo isnt great quality, this was taken off my crappy little Samsung years ago.
I spent hours and hours in this studio, we got to mix songs that the music students recorded, we got to record using this desk, the sound was unbelievable. Also managed to catch a few naps in here when the lecturers were gone.
Here are 2 videos of my time in college.....
The lecturer is clearly not around
Me and my best friend ^ always got into trouble. Always. If we weren't around giggling constantly we were probably in the pub. But thats what college is all about! and hey! we passed.....
I don't want to keep going on about it in case it's boring you all with the non nudity - so i'll end with a photo at my graduation.
Sound Engineering and Suicide Girls are the two things i've achieved in my life and it's been the best experience i could ever hope for.
If you're interested in taking the course, i say DO IT! it's a lot of fun and the people are really good to work with. Sometimes the course is hard and boring, but most of the time it's fun and you get to do whatever you want.
Thanks if you read this, i just wanted to give you an insight to a big part of my life that i don't often talk about since Suicide Girls came into the scene.
