i fucking hate formal events! absolute bullshit conventionalism. fuck weddings. they are miserable. two people entering into an institution who care more about the presentation than each other. i've just ended my three year relationship with my girlfriend and hitch-hiked five hours because of a rediculous wedding. the people involved were young southern republicans. the ones that golf and wear khaki banana republic pants and bright shirts with logos and sweaters tied around their necks (you wish you could fucking strangle them with) these are the people that would own slaves if they could. bastards the whole lot! i apologize, but that is not my idea of a pleasant time. forced to spend a weekend with these concede self-centered rich kid douche bags. they listen to southern rock and dave mathews. listen to bluegrass because 'o brother where art thou' was sooo cool. i tried to be cordial, i really tried, but they were pricks to me. i hate them, their politics, their music, their skewed world view. my ex-girlfriend can be up their asses, but i know her and where she came from. good luck. she told me she hated me and that if i left the relationship was over. enjoy 'em, the cunts.
i'm home and was picked up by really good people that i'm grateful for. guess what - none of them were weathly. just proletariats. meanwhile i was passed by hundreds of lexuses suv's, porsches, hummers, mercedes, etc.

nice point about weddings. my wife & i just threw our reception party (sort of a first anniversary gig) - and while you wants things to be NICE, it's hard to keep persepctive. the books, magazines you buy are pretty wild - they press you to turn attention to the *smallest details* ... it's an interesting industry. i think a great sociology book is just waiting to be written about the economics & methods of the wedding planning industry. we tried to focus on the big things: food, music, the stuff that matters to having a good time... but yea. it's a bit disheartening at times.

word to the lower-working class, hand-me-downs and modest (albeit appropriate) gatherings. glad you've escaped the world of buffy, mitsy and the racket club. avoid it like the plague.
