My Monday sucked arse. I spent all day today basically fighting with my student trying to get her to work. Did you know that when angry 101lbs can turn into 101 lbs of seething pissed off muscles which makes it feel like 1001lbs. She kicked me, bit herself oh the usual Monday routine. I HATE that she is nonverbal on Mondays like these, makes me wonder what exactly went on at home this weekend. She will kick me, bite herself, sit on the floor, try to run away from me and her work area, run into other people, hit herself, glare at me with the cutest evil look Argh! She has no way of voicing her anger or if she is over stimulated (sensory overload basically) other than to physically manifest it either through hitting and biting herself or kicking me. She tips her chair back etc etc. Even when she kicks me good all I can do is use my Mandt techniques and use a seated restraint, standing restraint, side support, or place my hands over her knees and pray she doesn't kick me in the face. They're not hard restraints either, they are very gentle and used basically to keep her from hurting herself or someone else. The premise behind the Mandt system is to treat everyone with respect and as a human being. Sometimes, managing her behaviors seems so much more like a fight, especially after she was so happy on Friday and then attitudinal today, something tells me something bad happened at home (and I mean BAD) this weekend and she wants to tell me about it but can't say what she wants so she manifests what she wants.

Mongol General: "The open steppe, fleet horse, falcon on your wrist, wind in your hair!"
Mongol General: "Wrong! Conan, what is best in life?"
Conan: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!"
Mongol General: That is good...that is good.
I've seen that movie so many times I could quote it backwards.
