Why cant we talk into our wristwatches, yet?
So, McDonalds will soon sell organic beef. Think of the effect of that. It will be expensive. It could transform a culture of suspicion about fast food to one of a culture of reliance on fast food. It could be a good thing. Or we could have a $10.00 hamburger. But its only a drop in the bucket about what the future may hold. Which reminds me.
Why dont we talk about the future anymore? I dont mean the science fiction future dreamt of in childhood. I mean, like twenty-years from now in the actual, real future. Shouldnt every public debate about world affairs be conducted with the actual future in mind? Why talk about morality and right or wrong when we should be concerned with the most basic need of mankind: survival. Not the survival of Democrats or Republicans or Christians or Muslims or Sperm Whales or Rock and Roll or Redwood Trees. Were talking about the survival of humanity. We need to insure that well be around and that well still be human beings, genetically and chemically and psychologically. We need to insure that our governments and institutions serve us, and we do not serve them. We need to insure that everyone understands everyone, even if we disagree about serious matters. Then we can start talking about our childrens childrens childrens happiness.
