Don't you hate it when you are SOOO incredibly angry or upset or whatever that you don't even KNOW where to start ranting? I'm so like slash right now that I can't even begin to explain why. Yeehaa irrationality!! I guess I am just going to have to sit here and wait till I can form proper sentences in my head before trying to type them out...
*whistles a tune* I'll be right with you...
On the plus side, I'm eating the yummiest BK burger I've had in a while....
God. I'm just really angry at my boss right now. I had my PDP (Performance Development Program) meeting today...basically an attempt to get a payrise. Or, rather, it does spell a payrise at the end of the period it relates to. In this case, August. It's a year long process. I'm fine with that. But when I find out that my boss has already given some employees a payrise (when they aren't meant to get them until August) it kinda makes me think well WTF am I busting my ass for them for? I mean, sure, I understand that these workers are on the lowest possible rate for our store and that the manager was only trying to bring them up to a more reasonable rate inline with the rest of the company yada yada yada, but these ppl have been in the store LESS than a year. I've been there 2 years this month and I've never had a payrise (apart from a .25 across the board bump that the entire company got regardless of effort or skillbase). This PDP is a new system, yes I get that, but now that the boss has the power to give payrises, am I not entitled to something now too, like those other bozos? (whos job I might add, is simply to merchandise the stock, whereas MY job is singlehandedly running the ENTIRE stock receiving process/inwards goods). I work in a fairly large store, with a huge inventory and I am in sole charge of goods received AND goods sent out of the store. Not a small task, but I do it and I do it well. My beef here is WHY I have to wait until the end of the process for a payrise, when other staff (in less skilled roles than my own) get a payrise already. I know that I already earn more than them, but like I said, they've been with the store less than a year, but I've been there 2. Grr I keep forgetting why I'm angry lol. The worst thing was, during the meeting, my boss got a phone call and it was about getting more money for one of the cosmetic counter managers. Let me give some background here, this consultant has been with my store for oh about 7 months. She's on a fairly decent wage. She is currently our top selling consultant (she sells FUCKLOADs because she is CRAZY nuts...she has a weird selling technique, but lets not get into that). She was given a formal Written Warning just yesterday for being late to work numerous times. She was LATE today for fucks sake!! Unbelievable! Personally I cannot stand the girl, we had a run in a few weeks back, over a work issue which she decided to turn into a personal attack. But that's beside the point. Right, so back to the manager...gets the phone call during our meeting...im sitting there...listening...as you would....and I came to realise who he was talking about, and so imagine my surprise when I hear him saying he would like to give her a payrise. Where the fuck is the justice in the employment world where a manager can issue a Written Warning for lateness and the next day announce that he wishes to give her more money!! I'm sitting there feeling like a fuckwit cos I have to WAIT until August (and yes it's a guaranteed payrise, but that's not really my argument here).. I want to know WHY I can't just have mine now like others have. I'm not greedy, and now that it's been said, I CAN wait until August. I just feel really letdown and unappreciated right now, when I see these other staff members getting payrises before me. Gone are the days where loyality means anything. I must also add, I've been with the company almost 9 years now. I've just moved around to different stores etc. I work for a large retail chain of department stores. But like I said, I'm not 'just' a salesperson. I have a task/skill specific role that I am damn good at and really enjoy. But it's times like this that I wonder why why WHY do I stay there. I can do so much better than this company.....I'm way too good for them. I mean, I know why I staythere, I love my job....just not so much the environment sometimes...especially times like this

I know how you feel. They pull crap like that in my company all the time. We don't even get pay raises that often. I've gotten one in 3 years and it was a 3% increase. We all need new jobs!! The new owner of our company has announced that they don't have a pension plan or sick time. Its just Paid Time Off which is essentially your vacation time that will be used as sick time. I get 23 days total, but before this I got 20 days vacation, 3 personal days, and sick time was seperate. I guess they screw you over no matter where you are! I thought America was the worst...so much for my plan to flee the country for better working conditions!

I hope you have a great weekend I guess there's no place where work doesn't suck. Its just so sad that the worst people get the most reward and the best people just end up with more work! Hopefully you'll get a decent raise. I don't have much planned for the weekend. We're just going to go to a used book store, go food shopping, and I believe some rum and cola should be in the picture somewhere.
