About a few minutes ago, my father called from Mississippi, in the middle of his break to remind me of one of the BEST moments in my childhood! For it was 30 years ago, when the very first Star Wars film made it's debut!! He took my twin brother and I to see it about a month later but "Star Wars IV: A New Hope" was THAT signifigant to me because the very first movie that my brother and I ever saw in a theater!! A moment that I can honestly brag about. I vaguely remember parts of that night but I do remember asking my pop about "monsters behind the curtains." I also remember Chewbacca, at one point scaring the crap out of me. Man. To think it's been that long but what a milestone!! Pop and I spent a good 8 minutes on the phone reminiscing and comparing notes on how hardcore the art and special effects techniques were back then as opposed to today and even when my dad still talks about how real the movie felt, he still seems in total awe!!!!
Funny thing is, I think a few years later, he also recalls, what I affectionately refer to as a "Bill Cosby Moment", between him and my twin. We were at the very same theater, but I can't remember what were going to see, but my brother looked up and saw an ad for the movie "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". He looked up and asked my pop, "Dad? What's a whorehouse?" To which after taking a moment to think on it (and probably blush and chuckle for a sec), he looks down at him and gave him the only sensible answer that a father could give his inquiring son:

Any other fathers can relate to any of this? Raise your hands and share your stories. Anyways, this random call just made my day. Thanks Dad.
