I spent much of Thursday, well a few hours at least, sending my resume out to jobs on Craig's list and Hotjobs. Mostly for admin asst. stuff there. I have also been talking to a friend who needs an asst mgr in her store. I interviewed with her district mgr Monday and was a little shakky as to how to interview went. I saw my friend Monday at Ceremony and she assured me it went ok. Tuesday I get a call from a recruiter I had sent my resume to for one thing but she had something that would fit me better, would I be interested, here are the details, blah blah... It is another ast mgr position in a very large art supply store (not Pearl). I am thinking, well... might be OK, problem is this woman seems like a total noodle! I am left wondering how someone with such unprofessional hiring and communication skills got this job, after every call. FIrst, she gets my name wrong TWICE, with two DIFFERENT names in the first 5 mins of the first phone call. She doesn't sound like she even has my resume in front of her. Finally it seems like she has it and starts asking me pertintnet questions directly related to it. Then she asks me to email her it again in word format since hotjobs doesn't send it in a useable format. OK, I can after I go to the car dr and see why the airbag light is on. (Fixed, strange bug, no biggy) Wednesday, get a call from friend saying they want me to join their family, but we need to meet to talk salary. Cool. Talk to crazy staffing lady, who gets my name wrong, AGAIN, and hangs up on me when she tries to put me on hold. My cell battery is dead, so I have to keep trying to call her back on the store phone, not wanting her to call me there. Finally get to talk to her, she has sent the resume on, call tomorrow to see if we can set up a time to interview w/ company. I ask her some detailed questions because, at this point, I still don't know much for details. I get the who and what and she tells me "as far as salary goes, they can make me a very happy girl." Cool. Call her today. The receptionist answers and directs my call, after me giving her my name. On hold. Next voice that answers is my crazy cantact. Does she say," Hi Melinda, we are still waiting to hear from the client." Nope, she answers the phone, "Waiting." That's it. I say "Excuse me?" She says, "Melinda?" I do a dance, she got it right. Still waiting to hear about when they want to meet. They have my resume and are interested in me. I tell her to let them know I can interview over the weekend, if that is better, since I know retail also happens then. She gets ecstatic, like the thought never occured to her (probably hadn't) and says she is going to email her associate to make sure she knows and that the client knows. I can do nothing but shake my head at this point. I will follow it through and see what she can get together...
I got a call from Strio's mom. she is gong to fly me down for his birthday!!!!! *uber stompy leaping dance of joy!!!* It isn't a surprise becasue she was looking at flights on line at work and had to call him to get my number. Super cheap and direct flights! yay! I don't think I have ever flown anywhere directly before! What luxury!!! Will update as thigs go. need food now. Salad worn off....
