I awoke this morning to a tiny finger tracing an intricate pattern across my back.
I can't help but smile.
I went by a shelter today. Nothing makes you count your blessings more then seeing those with nothing more then the clothes they are wearing.
They all looked so..shellshocked. There were no dramatic images of misery. Just quiet, patient waiting. So much of their dignity has been surrendered.
But for all of you screaming that nothing is being done..how close are YOU to whats going on? Maybe on a national level you don't see the action but on a daily, personal level this part of Texas is swimming with compassion, outpouring of love and support and aid. You'd have to be here to understand. I'd have to be THERE to truly grasp it. Everyone who is so ready, so eager to denounce our society, to look down their noses at this country of ours needs to be here to see the unselfishness, the love, the giving. Quit looking and focusing on the negative America. Quit parading the ugly, the evil and the wrong media. For once, look at the GOOD. There is just as much, if not more, and it is much more moving and inspiring.
Speaking of, I saw this link in a thread, apparently originally in Isadora's journal. It choked me up, in a good way.
I digress.
When it rains it pours. Oh my does it sometimes pour.
oh, lastly.
My sister gave Grace a little jewelry box. It was hers when she was a little girl. You know the one...with the little ballerina in it that twirls and music plays when you open it. Grace loves it. I just watched her with it...the ultimate girly moment of her peering down, oohing over the ballerina...looking at herself in the mirror. Oh for want of a camera. I love that little girl so much it hurts to look at her sometimes.
Thanks Shelly, you're a pretty cool aunt, and a pretty good sister.
