I enjoy uninvited inspiration. especially after the crap of a night I just had.
I was looking up one of my fav poems...just one of those snatches of lines that really stuck with me...but I couldn't remember verbatim. I think I've posted it before:
Life
Paul Laurence Dunbar
"A crust of bread and a corner to sleep in,
A minute to smile and an hour to weep in,
A pint of joy to a peck of trouble,
And never a laugh but the moans come double;
And that is life!"
It's a little pessimistic, but it fit usually.
So tonight, I'm looking it up on ye handy internet to cut and paste..and I find the second...stanza? verse? whatever you call it:
"A crust and a corner that love makes precious,
With a smile to warm and the tears to refresh us;
And joy seems sweeter when cares come after,
And a moan is the finest of foils for laughter;
And that is life!"
I'd never seen that part of it before...and...I REALLY needed to see those lines tonight. That just flipped everything around, it's def. a better outlook, and one I need to have...
Is there a point? No. I have nothing deep or intelligent to say...just to say that my faith needed the bump tonight, so thank you.
