Had a cool weekend...Saturday & Sunday I got a bit of sun. Workin' on my tan. The weather here in FL is finally nice!
Saturday I went to Screamfest...a horror convention. At first it was alright...$15 to get in, different vendors selling the same thing pretty much (overpriced t-shirts, movies, figurines). Man I didn't realize there were so many bad Troma movies! I never could get into Toxic Avenger...well, I guess it's good to laugh at. I totally love horror and I just can't get into Troma...too low budge for my tastes I guess. So my friend and I walked around, she spent load of money. All I bought was a 'Night of the Living Dead' pin for my bag.
Afterwards, we walked over to where the stars were...and my mood perked right up! You have to understand, I love love LOVE the (original) Night of the Living Dead movie and was totally thrilled to meet the cemetary zombie, Bill Hinzman...and there he is, dressed in his dusty, dirty suit looking dead as ever! I felt like a little nervous school girl. I was like oh my god there he is!! My friend was like go talk to him! So I walked up, shook his hand and he said he would take a pic with me...very cool! I tried to look scared as he put his hand around my throat and put on his best zombie scowl...but I couldn't help but smile cuz I was happy!! Oh well, whenever I look at the pic, I smile at how silly I look, so it's all good! I got an autographed pic from him he wrote "I'm coming to get you next Kaleah" I asked him about Romero's next 'Dead' movie and he confirmed the rumours are true...I was like YES!!
When I got home I checked out info online about Bill and felt really dumb because I didn't realize that he directed a couple of movies himself as well cinematography, lighting, etc...would have loved to have gotten some insight from him regarding that part of the entertainment biz...oh well...there's always next time. He was super cool and down to earth... My burning question for him was why did he try to kill/eat Barbara in the beginning of NOLD instead of eating Johnny (afterall he did kill him, so dinner was right in front of his face). His answer was that his number one rule is that he doesn't eat men, only women...my friend and I got a kick out of that...
I also met another zombie from Dawn of the Dead (my least favorite of the 3). She was really cool, very outgoing...she and her husband were zombies in the film...hand in hand. Pretty cool, huh? So, my lesson for that day was that zombies really are nice, they're just misunderstood...and hungry. Alright, that was a bit corny, huh? LOL
I also met the dude who played Leatherface on Texas Chainsaw Massacre II and this artist named Gris Grimly. Both were very cool.
Later that night, I rented lots of horror movies and vegged out with my honey...great weekend if I do say so myself...
