Dream Theory (1)
I'm standing on the edge of a chasm. It's slippery. I can hear the roar of water below me, as if there's a great cataract nearby - like Niagara or Victoria Falls. But it isn't either of those.
Mist rises from the chasm below - so deep I can't see anything but those clouds of mist. Sheer cliffs. In front of me is a tightrope, glistening with the water from the mist, leading to the other side. There's no one around me, but there are people waiting on the other side. She's there. Beckoning to me. Some other people are around her, but I can't tell who they are. I don't know them.
I'm holding a balance pole... and start to walk out on the tightrope. It's slippery, but my shoes - they look like ballet shoes - have something sticky on the bottom.
I walk out ten steps, confidently... then a sudden crosswind... the rope sways... I freeze, and keep my balance. I debate turning back, but one look at her, smiling at me, waiting for me ... I have to continue..
Step by step, I inch my way out along the rope. It's slick from the mist below. I keep my eyes on her. She's so beautiful she's almost glowing. She's smiling at me, leaning forward with her hands on her knees. Amazing how, even on this swaying rope, my eyes can instantly take in all of her. Her hair, her eyes, her smile, the curve of her breasts, her body... I want to smile back, but have to stay focused. I notice some guy beside her say something to her. Don't know him, but know he's coming on to her. She turns and says something to him, smiles at him, then turns back to me.
The roar of the water below me is louder now. I'm half way across. I can see the mist rising from the chasm. Not good... it's surrounding me. I have about a ten foot radius of visibility, but the rising mist obscures the other side.
I have to stay focused. Fight panic. Stare at the rope just in front of me. Inch my way along, swaying to keep my balance. Knees bent so I can adapt quickly to the sudden sways in the rope. Destination no longer visible. Fighting to keep my mind calm and in control.
Thank god... sun breaks through and clears the mist. I look to her... her back is turned to me.. she's kissing that other guy.. passionately. She has no idea I can see her.
A warm crosswind hits me, just as a cold gust from below does the same. I freeze... swaying.... clouds obscure the sun... the air grows colder... huge clouds of mist billow toward me from below... I can feel its chill dampness on my skin.. the roar of the water beneath deafens me...I see the rope, glistening... the mist grows thicker and thicker... completely encircling me...I can't see anything... I can't move.

Woke up, heart pounding, breathing heavily, sweating.
Stupid dreams.
