GAAAAAH!!! I guess I should update. I'm so tired from the past weekend and almost nothing I have to update. I suppose I'll give it a yo (warning this may get long):
First off...I'd like to extend the many thanks to everyone whom wished me many happy birthday greetings. All you guys kick ass so much. It makes me feel kinda loved. *sniff-sniff* So till I get back to everyone of you and thank you personally here's a little Charmander action for you:
He's my favorite and now he's yours too.
Well friday at Neo was supposed to be really kick-ass. I had invited all my friends from several camps and a majority of them responded that they were coming (note: I did extend invitations to those here but regretably I was competing with a meet and greet so I understand the lack of people from this end...you're still cool with me ). So I get there slightly later then I wanted, infernal Chicago traffic , and find that basically my regulars are there. Not bad, I mean I did invite them so that was good that they showed up. I had come with some folks I meet at Neo during the Smiths/Morrisey night they had a few weeks back so that was my entourage. I had already gotten at least one text message from a friend saying he was bailing. Long story short...no one else showed. Friends I've had for 10years+ apparently could care less. It seems a new age, along with a new age (haha get it...yeah I know lame) is upon me. The high point of the night, getting into a heated debate about American foriegn policy with a French girl (one of my entourage). I so delight in debate and things of that ilk, even drunk I was very eloquent and intelligible. By the gods, smart girls are soooo hawt.
Saturday, after getting up at about 2pm we all decided to head downtown for a while. We went to themuseum of science and industry to see the Body Worlds exhibit. Sadly the exhibit was closed out for the day, guess that's what we get for getting there two hours before closing. Nontheless we tried to take in as much as we could. I loved the U505 exhibit. But then again anything about WWII I find fascinating. I managed to get into another "debate" with someone there about whether they ill-treated Italians and Germans as badly as they did the Japanese during the war. While my point was that the Japanese were horribly mistreated by being completly removed from there homes and what-not, the other person on the other hand was all about how the Germans were poorly treated. You can see where our dilemmma was. We argued for about 20minutes until some musuem shmuck butted in and said that Germans and Italians were both held in internment camps as well. Whatever, a small handful of Germans and Italians compared to the entire populace of Japanese in the United States means nothing. Grrr.
After we left the museum part of the group went for dinner with some friends at some trendy restaurant while I went off with my friend to her place to hang out. I was kinda hoping for a night in but it was not fated to be. Her friend called up and wanted to go to Shenannigans (a rush and division bar ). Boy was I out of place. The music, the people...oh yeah out of place. But I stuck it out like a good little soldier just wating to go back to my friends place. Finally we left and we went back to my friends place to watch Old School and eat frozen pizza.
Sunday...they all want to go downtown for shopping and fun at the beach. My problems with this: 1. It's like over 100degrees out. 2.The city is going to full of people with the same insane idea so this can only lead to bad things. 3. I only have jeans here, nothing else, so my beach experience will be very limited.
We get downtown (I decided to drive) and we speand like an hour and a half trying to find parking. Two of them decide to forget about the beach and go shopping, mind you it's like 5:30 right now so not many shops in that area of chicago will be open (we were near north beach if that helps). Grrr. repressing urge to kill at this point. I go off with my friend and the one I got in the argument at the museum with to the beach. For like an hour I just sit on the beach doing nothing. No one talks to me, etc. etc. So I decide to go into the water. Yeah me the one who's afraid of large bodies of water. I wade in to about my knees. I kinda just stand there for a time just trying to calm down and let all the rage and anger flow from me. After a while I do calm down enough and start obsessivly try to make a sundial (don't ask for even I don't know). Well eventually head back into the water, find $20 in the surf, and get into a splash fight with some kids where at one point I loss my balance and get completely soaked. My friends on the beach are laughing at me and I come out and say well I guess I'm done for the day. At that point we leave and run into the other two on our way back to the car. I started getting sick at that point, probably from swallowing a mouthfull of the ever-so clean lake water...haha.
We head back to my friend's house where I hang out with her for a bit to watch some family guy and other stuff before I make my long drive home. I come home to find I have no power...yay!!! I basically went to bed at that point and woke up for another great work week which is sadly only half over.
I hope everyone else is doing well and again, many-thousands of appreciations for the b-day well wishes.
xoxo
