SO I had a blast over the weekend! I went to the Cardinals game and despite the fact that they lost I had fun. I really hope they start playing better though.
Anyway, I went back to work and it was actually pretty exciting, but somewhat comical too. One of the units tried to pull a vehicle over, well this guy didn't want to stop. Now that really isn't exciting because there are pursuits all the time in Nogales. How it ended was hilarious! So the guy gets spiked about a mile from the border as he is attempting to get back into Mexico. This guy keeps driving and since the port was blocked off went somewhat off road and drove right up to the fence. I guess I should have mentioned he was in a mini van and had all 4 tires blown out! Anyway he pulls up right next to the fence and about 10 people jump out and make it back over the fence into Mexico.
Just as they are making it over about 6 or 7 of our units get on scene. At that point all of the people in Mexico begin throwing rocks at the units. It seemed as though it was raining. Then just down the road everyone is taking advantage of this and it was like a mass invasion from Mexico. There was people running everywhere and Border Patrol vehicles all over, it was just mass hysteria!
It was very funny, and the only real reason I can say that is because no one was hurt! Its events like this that make me remember that although so much could have gone wrong and quite frankly did go wrong, the most important part of my job is to make it home every night. So I look at times like tonight and I just have to laugh about it. I mean really, what else can I do?
