yesterday's fun was a tedious surgery on my tweed champ clone. the output transformer needed to be replaced, so i unsoldered wires, disconnected the volume pot & input jacks, pulled the board up, replaced the transformer & reversed the process. the amp fired right up when it was back together, only to learn that the output transformer was not the problem.
the silvertone 1484 got a new set of jensen c12q speakers. aside from the mounting bolts wanting to chew up the 40 year old MDF baffleboard, it was an easy job.
the 1956 C3 is still humming like a barbershop quartet, this after replacing the suspect parts. i'm guessing the "technician" that had this before me wired the output sockets incorrectly & that is my next course of action.
the house of cards still stands
the desire for her returns
as does the worry
cannot let it get to me
