Nothing much going on today. Spent most of it in the shop working on a few trucks. Went out to secure an area that some of the Afghan soldiers got hurt at today. One of them stepped on a landmine left over from the days of Russia playing around here. Pretty gruesome, but everyone is alive. The Afghans actually did a pretty good job of treating them right away. They had everyone bandaged up decently by the time we got up there. A shimmering glimpse of hope for this country. The language barrier is still a little annoying, but we seem to be able to communicate enough for our purposes. Some of them in the area are real jokers. Always trying to get us to shoot shit....haha. I don't think they understand that we'll get in deep shit if we just start shooting for no reason.

Got some more care packages in the mail. My little hooch is sufficiently stocked for a nuclear holocaust now. Also in one of the packages, my brother sent me some things from my niece (5) and nephew (3). My niece painted me a gorilla, to help protect me. Nephew made me a bracelet that he expects me to wear everyday. They're such good kids! If I ever have little hellions of my own, I hope they turn out just like my brother's kids. The kids also got me a little remote controlled helicopter that shoots missles. They think it will help me battle the bad guys. I gotta say, it's pretty awesome, though I doubt it would do much good in a firefight. More to come tomorrow....
