Last Wednesday, went down to St. Andrews Hall in Detroit to see the CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy) / Sleigh Bells show, it was phenomenal. Super high energy, both of the performances and the crowds. Plus the venue size is perfect.
The CSS set list was great, mixing mostly their first two albums, and maybe one or two songs of their upcoming release. Lovefoxxx, the lead singer, was super cute, singer playing up to the crowd. She came out in long black baggy pants and a leather jacket, her hair was shoulder length and a little teased out, and with kind of punk/goth make up so she looked a little like Edward Scissorhands. But after a few songs in, she ripped off her pants (there were tear away - lol) and she was wearing fishnets and jean shorts. Then after a few more songs, she took off the leather, and she was wearing a pinkish, half-shirt. Then she started to look more like a Brazilian street walker. It was awesome.
I only wish I wasn't a white boy, and self-conscious, so I could have cut loose and danced instead of just kind of rocking in place and singing. Plus it didn't help I was by myself. My wife didn't want to go, my friends flaked, and no one in SGdetroit responded when I posted it as an event. But I'm tired of missing great shows. Either SGdetroit is un-motivated or ima-loser, but it's been hard to get people to come out to meet-ups, etc..
Then Sleigh Bells really rocked it as well. Their music might not be technically complicated, but it can be a kick, and live it was quite amazing. Plus Alexis Krauss is a sight to behold. Picture not from Wednesday, but she was wearing the same shirt.
Then as a bonus, there was an after-party in the Shelter afterwards (the bar in the basement below) and the local Detroit band Fawn was playing, which is an indie-rock/garage-rock quartet that is working on their first album. Three guys, one girl. I never heard of them, and it turns out they were quite good, and right up my alley, so they will be on my list to watch.
Got out around 12:30 and it was a little earlier than I planned. I figured I'd be draggin' at work the next day anyways since I still had an hour ride home, so I stopped at a bar in Hamtramck and meet a few cool people.
Of course, waiting to get into the concert, the people begging for money found me. And I gave $5 to the guy. They always find me, and I always give it up. My wife always yells at me for this, but since she wasn't there, I had no worries. At the old State Theater before a NIN show, I even got a hug and kiss from a nasty bearded guy for giving and that hasn't stopped me. I also give hitchhikers lifts, I suppose I'll probably end up a skin-suit someday. But I have been called a trail-angel by one couple, and I work on the Karma principle.

Thanks man. Actually, I'm pretty sure that we've got a good # of years before our minds are considered inappropriate for our age (don't quote me on this though).
