Very excited about the next show I'm going to next week:
Last week I went to The KILLS show in Detroit, which was pretty good, a little light on songs from their first three albums for my taste. This was a General Admission show which was a brutal reminder to me that 5'6" is really below average height. I finally was able to settle into a place where I could see Allison and Jamie on stage fairly well, and it ended up just in front of me in my line of sight was drunk girl stumbling around molesting her boyfriend's face, and the two of their heads unfailingly kept blocking my view of Allison and Jamie. So then I noticed every time I shifted, I was blocking the view of two, 5' tall young ladies right behind me. Gah!

Found out officially last week that I lost out on the promotion to my good friend. When I interviewed I suspected I didn't do well. He deserved it, as he is much better at delegation, ad-libbing, and better at self-promotion than I am. I'm too detail oriented, tend to take on too much myself instead of relying on my team, and have a lot of distractions presently with my personal life. I'm glad for him, but sad to see the opportunity pass me by. The raise and company car, etc. But, the promotion would have meant leaving the program, so I'd rather stick around and see if something opens up in the current program later anyway. We'll see.

I'm so mad. My truck just rolled over 100K miles, which is pretty low since it's 10yrs old (it was garaged for 1 1/2 half while we lived in France). As soon as it met the 100K mark, huge flakes of paint (like baseball size), came off the rear quarter of the box leaving a big rust spot. I was hoping to get at least 200K miles out of it, but now expect that the next 100K will not be so glamorous.

It was very clever, and poignant - - something about the inevitability of someone taller always being in front, and cars willingness/tendency to break down just after the warranty is run, or a significant milestone is reached. Apparently it was lost, and now I'll never recreate that brilliance. Shit.
In any event, aye, it's a rough revelation for me that someday I may want a smaller breed. I'm thinking I'll work my way down over time. Maybe one of the Belgian Shepherd breeds next, then a bull terrier, and finally a little drop-kick dog for when I'm in the nursing home.
Oh, & yeah, I saw - - too late - - that the prior comment was there. Let's just pretend it was clever & poignant.
