Hello my pretties!
So it seems like a lot has changed since the last time I was here. I guess that's fitting, as I have too. First things first, I'm 22, I still live in Jax, and I'm still a Virgo.
In recent news, I just graduated college. SCARY! I realize now, that after four years of trying to get the fuck out of school, that all I want now is to go back. I graduated with a BFA in photography. To some, my "school" wasn't work at all. It was so much fun. I spent the last 2 years of school doing something I love. I'm going through this weird limbo phase right now where I'm not in school, but I don't have a real job. Unfortunately for me, my school does not provide internships for fine art majors. So I've been driving myself crazy for the past month or so applying to every job I have experience in. Because Jax has no need for artists, this has been reduced to sales jobs (as I've only worked retail since I was 16).
The last thing in the world I see myself doing is sitting on a phone or in meetings trying to sell shit I don't care about, like Management Training, or Spring Water, to vendors. I guess you have to start somewhere though, right?
At least I'm lucky enough to have some kind of a job right now. It's full time retail at a high end boutique. It sucks hardcore, but it has potential to pay well (commission!). Paying my bills is a good thing. This job is actually not that bad except for my boss. She's crazy. She threatened to fire me over taking off a weekend for my brother's wedding which she approved a month in advance. Then tells me she's leaving for a week so I need to cover her duties. Yeah. We don't get along. Hopefully I can outlast her so I can take the store over.
I've been biking a lot. I got a new bike a few months ago. I needed one after my ex wrecked my last one. With me on it. Not cool. My new bike is so obnoxious. I feel like a lame hipster on it but I love it so. It has an orange frame and I just got new wheels for it. I had them painted hot pink. I don't know why I'm writing about but we just went for a ride and I'm looking at it and it makes me happy. Yeah. Her name's Audrey.
In other news in my life, I'm learning Japanese. It's really hard, but I seem to pick up on it more quickly. My favorite word so far: SHINBUN. It means newspaper but it's uber fun to say. I'm trying as hard as I can to stay on top on art projects. The great thing about my neighborhood is that it's flooded with local art/artists. I can help but be inspired everywhere from the grocery store to the bar. This is great for motivation. Lastly, I'm starting to write a book. I don't want to say much else than that. I guess I could tell you it's a graphic novel moreso, but that's it.
So I guess that's a brief update in the world of Blackbirdy. Good to be back, SG!
