I tend to make holidays last longer than they should, or move them around to be more conducive to my own schedule. Valentine's Day? A Thursday? Guess again. In my world, that shit will be this weekend. Sure, I'll go out for a few minutes tonight and say hello to a few people, but I have to be at my work at 12:30 am to paint a stairway. So then the logical decision then becomes to celebrate this day at my leisure. Who's down? Seriously, any takers? Let's make this Valentine's Day Weekend a memorable one.
Go out and try it sometime, take a weekend for St. Patrick's Day, or a road trip to celebrate Thanksgiving. My favorite is my birthday week. Plan it out six months ahead of time. Instead of it being your day, make it your damn WEEK. If people ask what you're celebrating, tell them the truth: "I just turned...." I mean, you did JUST TURN that age, not necessarily on that day, but who cares? It's your week.
