1. How was your Thanksgiving and what are you thankful for?
Thanksgiving was light this year; for the first time, we didn't have an actual family holiday. My sisters have their own grandkids now, so it was just me and Mom, and we elected to go out and drop a huge tip on someone who was working at a restaurant.
2. Who's putting up a Christmas tree 🎄?
Ugh. No; nowhere to put it, and don't feel like rearranging when it's just me living here.
3. Do you have any family traditions for Thanksgiving and Christmas?
Not any more; we used to just all get together for food and gift exchange, but there are no more kids at the immediate family level, and the family's crossing too many generations and familial ties to try to organize everything in one day.
4. Your best advice?
There are three sources of reason: your mind, your gut, your heart. Learn to trust, and when to follow, each of them, and know how to pick which one's answers are right for a given problem.
5. Do you have any holiday charities you donate to?
Does the State of Missouri count? Because I totally just gave them almost $3,000 for real estate and property tax. Having trouble walking or sitting down at the moment as a result.
6. Your favorite Christmas song?
Thrice's cover of Carol of the Bells is pretty cool.
7. Your best Christmas present, your choices given or received?
According to a buddy of mine, a mysterious gift he has for me this year will be the best one. My mother loved the crap out of her KitchenAid mixer a couple years back as she always wanted one but it was out of her price range.
8. Do you have your Christmas shopping done?
Bwahahaha, fuck no.
9. Fun question: something you enjoy during the Holidays?
Not working. Eating way too much food and not feeling guilty about it.
10. Do you have plans for New Years eve?
Not yet. Who wants to hang out?
11. Your goals for the new year 2024?
To continue losing the weight I never wanted; so far, down a little over 25lb. Slow going but that's doing it right.
12. Your New Year’s resolution?
This fits with 11. But also, to make more time for myself and for what I want in life.
13. Your favorite hobbies?
Obviously, photography. I'm also a former competitive pistol shooter, I game (both videogames and TTRPGs), I enjoy birding, and am a baseball/hockey nut.
14. Do you do Christmas cards?
Nah. I'm not much for the Christmas spirit. Though, I don't seek to dampen it in others at all.
15. Share anything you want from your past holiday's?
Nope; life is ahead of you; only lessons are behind you.
