After we do the breast cancer run in Toronto on Sunday, 2 October (there's still time to support me, if you like), we will be having a lovely tea party to launch my first book at Lettuce Knit in Kensington Market. Toronto SG'ers are all invited! Final time TBA, but probably sometime around 1:00. It's the first Canadian book-related event and I'm really excited...

Oh, and I almost forgot -- today is Talk Like A Pirate Day -- arrrr!

ARRR!!! ARRR!!! ARRR!!! ARRR!!! ARRR!!! ARRR!!! ARRR!!! ARRR!!! ARRR!!! ARRR!!!

So, a joke:

A pirate walks into a bar and sits down next to a good looking woman. She says, "What do you do?" He says: "I'm a pirate. I kill thousands of government troops, loot treasuries, leave women and children crying in the destroyed ruins of their cities and towns and generally create mayhem."

Karl Rove, sitting in the next seat, says: "You want to run for Congress?"

It was listed in my LYS monthly newsletter. I squealed when I saw it and of course had to show everyone your awesome book!!!

The cartoons are too cute for words! And your author picture is lovely. A very beautiful picture of you.

Congratulations!!!

And thank you for the nice words. They totally don't deserve me!

I think everyone here would agree boobies are a very, very good thing, yes? So now's your chance to support them...and I don't mean wear a bra. I'm doing a run for breast cancer this October in Toronto and would really, really appreciate your donations. My team is currently about $500 away from our $5000 goal!

Donate here!

(Team Knitty, by the way, is comprised...

Soon to be on the road again (damn you, Willie Nelson! get out of my head!)... pardon infrequent updating.

First, a knitting-related convention in Columbus, then spinning stuff in Tennessee, then to New England for book photo-taking, then to LA to tape a TV show, then through the Pacific Northwest and California for more book photos and...all in all, I'll be gone for over a...

Wow! Congrats on the book! I'm a long time knitter, and have fancied learning spinning (because I need another hobby! ) When does your book hit the stores? I'll want to pick it up.

Anyhoo, just wanted to say hi, and congrats!

Cool. Where do I sign up? Not sure if it'll end up being something I do long term, but it sounds like it's worth trying out if nothing else for the heck of it. smile
bittergirl:
Actually, I won't be teaching knitting per se...class participants should already know how to knit. We're just going to be diving into some specialized plant fiber yarns...

Wal-Mart is coming to Cleveland, so SUCK IT UP. That's our mayor's opinion, anyway. The revolt has begun.

Woohoo! Any word on time and places for protests of the Wal-Mart?
archangel_m:
For those of who who are interested and are able to make it down there...

On Thursday, June 9th at 7:00 P.M. there will be a town hall meeting at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church regarding the proposed Wal-Mart project in Rocky River. Wal-Mart wants to tear down Westgate Mall and build yet ANOTHER store in the spot, despite the fact that there is already a stor in North Olmsted just a few miles away, easily accesible by the main roads as well as the freeway. Attending this meeting will be the mayor of Rocky River.

Remember, that's Thursday, June 9th at 7:00 P.M. at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River.

20401 Hilliard BLVD. You can get more information as well as directions by calling 1-440-895-0463.

My dad revolutionized the loom for textile artists. They are the best looms money can buy. they are gorgeous objects. part machine part beautiful furniture. I emailed him asking for some jpegs to show you. And my mom is a weaver. so i asked for pics on that too. One time i got a photo gig from a textile artist when she found out who my parents were. Not like they are famous or anything just known in some circles
