Hey all, I'm sorry but I gotta vent. For the last year & a half my 80 year old Dad has been dating a 70 year old gold digger. Two months in he started talking about marrying her for fuck's sake. My sister and I each told him we just want him to be happy, but had major concerns. He pretty much blew us off. Then, 1 week before his 80th birthday she dumped him in a really shitty fashion. Sis and I were right there for him and talked him through it. Then he took her back. After everything we expressed about her and predicted every single thing she did to rope him back in. I swear to sweet zombie Jesus that it's like a couple of teenagers.
About two weeks ago he dumped her, which Sis and I thought might happen. We don't think this breakup will last either though. Especially because he told us that right around Christmas they were talking about going on a cruise, getting married and telling everyone after the fact. Seriously, wtf? There's a whooole bunch more believe me, full of melodrama and passive aggression.
I've been on board with everyone he's seen since my Mom died, but not this one. She's an absolute user and manipulator who hides behind christianity and it pisses me off. I know he's thinking about his final years and he can't bear being alone, but I never would have believed he'd be so blind. He's a good man and mostly a good Dad, but this has been driving me around the bend.
I also ended up having a root canal right after New Year's. So I ask you SG land, is it possible to get a do-over on the start of 2024? A lifetime ago I was in law enforcement and I fear I have become what we called a "shit magnet" lol.
