A few of you may know that I live in Ventura County (North of LA) as do most of my family and friends. As a lifelong resident I've seen a lot of nasty wildfires and other than a couple that took pace on the County's border with Malibu this one is the worst I've witnessed. Several houses in my Dad's neighborhood were lost, a neighborhood that has never had that happen due to a wildfire. I thank God that my Dad's house, and my Sister's, were spared. A couple of friends weren't so lucky.
One of the horrible things is that the burning area includes a number of horse stables and a few livestock areas. The local Humane Society is overwhelmed and needs help. I'm including the link to their home page below if you're at all inclined to donate to them.

In the meantime, please just keep the victims of this and the other fires in your thoughts & prayers.
These pics from my driveway the first night don't do it justice. Usually there a ton of streetlights, house lights, etc. between me and the hills (I'm about 7 miles from the hills of Ventura). But with power out to the entire County this was view:
A couple of pics my Dad texted me from around the corner of his house:
