@bloghomework One thing you may or may not know about me, I have had my fair share of business adventures!! My favorite: the reptiles!
Back in 2007, when I first joined SuicideGirls, @the_mortal and I had a reptile buisness. We had and bred a wide variety of creatures -some fuzzy, some scaly! Bearded Dragons, Mali Uromastyx, Argentine Tegu, Leopard Geckos, Corn Snakes, King Snakes, Rats Snakes, Ball Pythons, Red Tail Boas, Mice, Rats, 2 different species of Roaches, and 3 different kinds of worms... all living in our home with us! At the height of our business, I'd estimate we had around 100 lizards and at least 50 snakes, plus the other critters. Yes, we were THOSE WEIRDOS! HAHA! <3 <3 <3
We didn't make a ton of money. Actually, we always ended up just short of breaking even, but I loved what I did. I LOVE babies, of all species! So I would love them and grow them, then send them onto their new homes. We'd travel around the surrounding states, attending reptile conventions. We spent our days on road trips, met so many awesome people, saw the most beautiful and rare animals... It was a fun and chaotic time in my life. An experience I will never forget.
We had snakes get loose, lost for months, only to reappear like nothing had happened. There was a hairless rat that I had a special connection with! She was the sweetest thing <3 She would sneak out of her cage (she could slip through the bars) and end up in my bed, snuggled in my hair. I'd wake up to some "thing" touching my face and freak out. It was just her. I'd put her back in her cage, go back to bed... 10 minutes later, there's that rat in my bed again!! I was very sad the day she passed. I can't find any photos of her to share with you :/
So that's a little about me and my favorite business venture. I have dabbled in other areas, but this was definitely the most exciting and fulfilling, although the least profitable. After 4 or 5 years, we had to sell off 99% of our stock. We were a young family and couldn't afford a business that wasn't "working." I loved every bit of it though, and would go back and do it again in a heartbeat!!
