Today has been a pretty awesome day. I'm feeling very positive and I want to write about it. I seem to always write about not-so-awesome things.
I actually got a good nights rest last night. I haven't been sleeping well lately, and I've been having horrible nightmares and night terrors. I must have slept like 15 hours or something ridiculous. I had some pretty good dreams, though I don't really remember any details that I can describe. I just remember feeling good and positive, and spending the majority of the dream trying to build something or figure something out. These are my favorite things to do in my waking hours, so having dreams like that are the best kinds of dreams.
I sent my mom an e-card for mothers day, which isn't all that spectacular except that I haven't sent my mother anything for mothers day in several years. Our relationship has been rocky over the years, and I decided that regardless of how I feel about her, I will still treat her like a mom. A mom who, at least, deserves something on mothers day and her birthday. Her birthday is coming up in June, so I plan to send her a real card in the mail. Baby steps. She really liked the card, she shared it on facebook. I also called her today and we spoke for a while. It was a pretty positive experience, which isn't normal but I'm looking forward to making it so.
I also got to speak with some of the extended family back in Michigan, my aunt and uncle, my grandma and my cousin Melanie. My grandma was a bit drunk, and more than adorable. My grandma Nowicki is the very definition of what a grandmother should be like. She's the sweetest, most loving lady on the planet.
After that I had a very tasty chicken sandwich at the Coffee Table in Eagle Rock and some killer Iced Tea while I read a book I just purchased called Graphic Design Theory - Readings from the Field. Its a very interesting book about the history, origins and theories of design using excerpts from writings by influential individuals throughout the history of printing and graphic design.
After that I continued to read the book over at Swork Coffee (just down the street) with some green tea in an actually tea cup and I also had a very nice mango smoothie. The green tea there is very solid. Clean, refreshing, and very pure. I always feel great after a cup or two.
Now I'm just hanging out at home for a while and then maybe a show at UBG a little later. We'll see if I feel like going out...

Speaking of dreams, holy hell! I have no idea what's going on with me lately, but i've been having some intense dreams, and some completely horrifying/traumatizing nightmares. I went YEARS without having any memory of dreams, and now, over the last few months, it's like my brain has kicked into full gear and i'm having these crazy dreams nearly every single night. Don't you hate it when you can't remember your dreams? It's nice that you were left with that good feeling, though.
