I'm just hanging out at home relaxing. Its been hectic at work the last 2 weeks. I was asked to work on a demo integration project at our Irvine office with a crazy deadline. The project was to make a mock-up of a patient care suite with HVAC controls, a nurse call system, intelligent patient bed, patient entertainment system, security camera system, lighting controls, and door lock/card access system all installed in a week and a half. The sales manager actually scheduled the demo with the customer (Torrence Memorial Medical Center) before any of the equipment was installed and functioning. 23 people contributed to the project and I coordinated most of the work. I also worked with all of the other specialists to figure out how we can get these systems to interact with each other. In the end it all worked out, but it was right down to the wire. The main piece of the demo was the "code blue" button on the bed headboard. When someone pushes the button the lights turn on to full brightness, the security camera in the room moves to point directly at the bed, the HVAC system graphic page turns blue, the nurse call system lights up and sends an alert to the terminal and pages the patients doctor.
If our company can get a contract with TMMC to install HVAC, lighting and nurse call, the project would probably be in the 100s of millions of dollars. It would be cool to see that happen, but the main thing is that the sales department head was really impressed and happy with everything.
The demo went down Wednesday night, I got home around 9pm, slept a few hours, got up at 3:30am and drove to Fort Irwin to try and get a new Barracks HVAC system on the Army base up and running. We didnt end up getting any of it to work, which was a disappointment considering the massive triumph at the office. I did my best though, so they cant hold anything against me.
So, today is just a bit of relaxation until my tattoo appointment at 3. I'm adding some more to my right arm piece. Heres a pic of the reference piece:

I'll post some pics of the work when we're done with it.
