I have a dilemma, which I've been mulling over for the past few days. So, being a solitary person with no real interest in discussing it with a real person, I thought I'd put it on the internet for all to see.
I'm contradictory like that.
Now, for you few, you happy few who read my blogs, you'll know I work in a bar. One of my regulars is middle aged eccentric, with disabled arms and unable to speak, who drinks vodka and coke in the morning. Now, on Friday, we got to talking (which was interesting, since he can't really speak) and I found out he was a Major in the Army, who now works in an Army Museum in Cardiff. After we discussed his life, he asked me if I'd ever been in the military, to which I replied I was a no good draft dodger. After a long hard look, he gestured that I should join (which is kind of ridiculous, since he got the aforementioned disability in Northern Ireland during The...urgh...Troubles). After informing him of my shortcomings, like age, unwillingness to cut my hair, general dislike of being told what to do, he said No, I should join the Territorial Army, as an officer.
Now, this is something I've wondered about before. About a year ago, when I was experimenting with sobriety, I'd thought about it. I like to keep in shape, more or less, I like learning new skills, I like the outdoors, and the idea of serving my country does appeal to me. It would also look good in my future political career (this is just in the imaginary stage at the moment). And since I'll be in Uni soon, I'll have extra time on my hand, and it'll be some extra money for these upcoming lean years.
What to do, what to do?
I need more information.
Yes, that is the plan. More info.
Maybe there is something to this blog thing.
