I took off at six A.M. and drove to Saratoga for the waters. I met about a dozen cars on the waydown. The traffic was just terrible.
Lots of deer at the Two Bar Ranch and at the Bates Creek crossing. I took the old highway at Shirley Rim because I like the open range with no right of way fence, only to find about half the road is now fenced.
There have been improvments made at the hot springs in Saratoga, new steps down into the natural pool and a closed circiut TV serveillance system. I don't believe this shit I have been going to the hot springs for 25 years and now I'm on copland TV. What's this world coming too, I probably won't go there again.
I raced a freight train from Hanna to Medicine Bow and had lunch at the Virginian Hotel. then stopped at the Mowry Shale along Marshall road and looked for fossil fish, I found jaws and scales but no fish. A cold Southwest wind and a rattlesnake sunning himself on the rocks sent me on my way. A rattlesnake out in early March, oh my god!
The next stop was at the tepee rings along highway 487 to look for arrow heads, they sometimes come to the surface after the winter snows melt. No luck!
I took the circle drive up the back side of Casper Mountain and stopped at the scenic lookout on the front side. I could see several dust storms out on the rolling hills going up to the Big Horns. I don't ever recall seeing that before. Not good!
I stopped to wash the red beds off the Subaru and picked up some fried chicken for later. When I got home I had a couple of messages from friends asking if I wanted to do anything for my birthday. LOL
