Finished reading "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" last night. I love a book that reminds you how brief and vulnerable human life is and how those who idly watch life pass are killing themselves. Sorry to get heavy, but this book kicked my ass.
I went through a volunteer training program for Hospice (an organization that helps terminally ill people through their final stage of life) in March and we touched on similar issues. For eight weeks, we discussed mortality, spirtuality, ethics...the heavyweights of philosophy. It may sound like a grim exercise, but I've never felt more appreciative of my life than during those eight weeks.
...oh, and read the book...

It's also incredibly funny and balanced. The Irish judge gives it a 10.0!
