Usually, I think it's tacky to ask a customer out. I work in fine, Italian dining and take it seriously...but she would not stop smiling at me.
I also find the situation pretty dodgy. I mean, do you say, "Would you like to see the dessert menu... or... go for a drink?" Lame.
Also, it puts the girl on the spot if you ask her in front of her friend. She may be smiling because your hair is fucked up or your nose is running. So..
I dropped my name and number with the check in the interest of subtlety.
She took the number.

Yeah, the long distance is lame... that's really cool you were able to maintain the relationship, though. When I get back to school, I guess it's compensated for by the fact that we get to share pretty close quarters, but meh, in any case! MEH!
