I've been trying to stray away from those obligatory close-up shots of flowers in my photography, because although they sometimes look good, they are becoming increasingly predictable nowadays.
Instead, I recently took my 300mm zoom lens to my local park to capture some up close and personal shots of one of my favourite bird species: DUCKS!!

These ducks seem to have a certain flee threshold that this lens allows me to stay behind whilst taking some fairly good close-up shots. They are more awash with colour than I previously thought (except the female ones, though, they are mostly brown!).
