Love is many things…Love can be kind and generous and it can also be cruel and unforgiving but one thing is for sure from this person’s perspective, love at first sight can and does exist. I can only vouch for this kind of position, I suppose from my own experience as it is rather different than that of the higher percentage of couple’s getting together. A telling of love at first sight is also subjective as well. How does one define “love at first sight” anyway? Is it the quintessential cliché look across the room and BAM!? Is it when you first meet on a blind date? Or, is it that “moment” when it hits you like a ton of bricks when you look at someone in that way for the first time and realize they have been there all along? I believe that “love at first sight” works on many different levels because we as a human race, no matter the indifference's you may have, are born to love. After all, even the Grinch Who Stole Christmas eventually found a love within the Who’s in Whoville. I know I know, this is not necessarily the kind of love that is setting itself up for what most people consider with love at first sight. However, love is a feeling and an emotion, in its purest form, is the most powerful of our inner selves. Sure sometimes some would say that rage has that belt notched but it is just not true. Love brings people together and can put rage in its place every time. When I first met my unbeknownst to me future wife, we were just a couple of 15/16 year olds that did have a look that when I look back on now, was pretty mysterious and whimsical because at that time we were two totally different people. For the next couple of years we spent a lot of time running around with the same friends and always managing to be with each others company. Eventually giving in to what we just knew, we were romantically involved. Now, because I am by nature a hopeless romantic and have seen way too many rom-com movies, read many love stories (ie The Notebook) and even Shakespearean tragedies, to me our love was in fact “love at first sight”. We just didn’t come to fruition with our acceptance of it until a little bit after the first actual sighting of one another. Do I believe that people can still have that OMG truer than true “love at first sight” experience and live to tell about it? Abso-freakin’-lutely I do! After all, I did say that I am a hopeless romantic and always will be. And…I really don’t care if anyone thinks it’s sappy and unrealistic. Those kind of people just have not had the pleasure of experiencing what the kind of blissfulness true love can bring them.
