Hi my friends. So the first part of the service is over, the open casket viewing where we all stare at a waxy version of what was just last week our loved one. All emotion aside, I think it's a creepy tradition--to kneel beside a corpse and say goodbye. Personally, I'd rather do it over a toast at a bar or even in the middle of a forest. I think I'm closer to her there than I am at a funeral home. Also, I went with my 70 yr old father and took care of him while he received the mourners. So many of the men thought I was his wife and gave him a creepy "nice job" or "how did you manage that?". Eventually, I started greeting guests first and telling them that I was Donato's daughter. Weird. And btw: I just joined the messenger app Kik, so feel free to say hello. I'm Pixiebloom on there. I'm off to bed now. Funeral is first thing in the morning. Big hugs to you all.

I believe in the mantra of "everyday is a gift." I wake up grateful every single day.
Sorry for your loss. Hang in there.
