Another day... another update...
I've been soooo busy (am I ever not?) I had two interviews this morning one with Tony from Motion City Soundtrack we talked Fraggles, Star Wars and sex and the other was with Jim from Pennywise we talked about what it means to be 'free' and of friendship and creative expression. Yesterday I did an interview with Tony from No Use For A Name we talked about song writing and about him being in a shoe store a few days ago trying on shoes when a film clip of No Use came on the t.v in the store! How embarrassment! I also recently did one with The Explosion too. I'm pretty wiped out from doing the interviews... I put so much into them and try to make a real connection with the person I'm interviewing... I'm always tired after I do them. I'm even tireder if it's a face to face... it can be draining, not in a bad way though... I'm not complaining just sharing an observation. Sometimes I imagine what it's like for a band to have to spend a whole day doing one interview after another... I'm going to submit them to SG so hopefully they get accepted!
I have almost got the colour finished on my tattoo... just some rays and stars to go now... so hopefully in the next few weeks it'll be finished... then I can start on my next ones.
Horrorpops tonight! I'm incredibly excited. I just got the new Give 'Em The Boot DVD (there is sooooo much Tim in this DVD... sigh... gush gush...) and they're on it playing live... they're so good. I can't wait... I'll start counting down the hours soon... how lame is that? It's good that going to shows still excite me!
Last weekend was huge... again!! Went to a party a beautiful friend had... he's the 'hostess with the mostess' he even made me special vege food all by himself... what a sweetheart! A huge evening ( no I'm not going into more detail) was had by all... I ended up at the Family and ended up with my friends scarf... he he he...
me and the above mentioned friend...
I've decided I'm going to be good now... I have to be focused... I have started meditating every day and night... it's the only thing that really helps and have started going to the gym again.
I saw Siara out on Saturday night... she's so cute! If I ever did a set for SG I'd love to do a multiple with her... meow ... I'm loving the red hair and her new tattoo in real life is even better than in the pix, I can't wait to see it in colour.
I went to Black Market Day at the Jubilee on Saturday... Here's my review from it that appears in Rave this week:
After much hype and weeks of anticipation, Black Market Day arrived ten bands along with the premiere of Who Cares: The Duane Peter's Story DVD making it one hell of an event for Brisbane's punk social set.
Melbourne headliners, H-Block 101's performance tonight verified why they are the best punk band in the country. Unbridled passion coupled with an urgency and their skillfulness as musicians made the set an engaging affair. Blending 70s style punk and reggae the four-piece navigated through their impressive catalogue Japanese Transistor, Group Dynamics, D.I.Y, Hell and cover of Jimmy Cliff's The Harder They Come all included and all stand alone highlights.
Local heroes The Black Market and The Ordinary's launched their respective albums. The Ordinary's impressing with new meets old school punk while Black Market churned out infectious punk/ska/reggae to a horde of ecstatic, drunken punk upstarts.
7 Inch, Deputy Dipshit, The Sponge Dregs, Ebolagoldfish and Bewilderbomb offered entertaining sets with honorable mentions going to both Mouthguard with their sing it loud, sing it proud approach staying true to their punk/hardcore roots and The Clap's punk/hardcore/psychobilly discharge that demanded the attention of every single person in the room.
Next weekend one of my friends is organising an interfaith forum at THREEWORLDS on Friday the 12th of August at 7pm. There will be a Kombumerri elder, a Christian priest, Muslim Imam, a Krsna Devotee, a representative of the Buddhist council of Queensland and a Raj Yogi all speaking on the same topic. The topic/question will be "what is the highest human value?" There will also be excellent live music and vegetarian delights. It should be really cool.
THREEWORLDS is located at 2558 GOLD COAST HIGHWAY MERMAID BEACH, phone: 55260900
The zine is still coming along... sometimes it feels like it will be forever! It will come out exactly when it's met to.
Special hugs & kisses to all you beautiful people!
I'm going to go make some vegetarian sushi!!! yum yum!
Love & light,
Miss Bianca
