What a beautiful day it is!! Outside it's sunny but, the air is a little cold... yay, winter is almost here... Winter is the best you get to snuggle under lots of blankets, you get to wear layers of clothing (I love the layered look), you get to wear beanies (I have this cute one with pink bunny ears), hot herbal teas, warm baths with essential oils, sitting next to the fireplace (or fucking next to one), camping (for some strange reason I ever seem to go camping in Winter).... there's so many reasons why I love it... do you guys like winter?
Last Thursday night I went to see From Autumn To Ashes at the Rev. I got to hang out with
Rockeeter! Besides FATA two other bands played, XWish For WingsX and I Killed The Prom Queen. XWingsX were great! They're on of my fav local hardcore bands you guys should check them out. While I was watching FATA I had kind of an epiphany see, I've been wondering what to do with my life for a while, you know the whole 'should I be working towards a career?' or 'should I have a stable full time job?' I was thinking maybe giving up doing the zine, writing etc etc.... while I was watching FATA my mind kind of wandered and I started thinking about all that and as I watched them create music on stage right before my eyes I realised that's what I want to do, I really do want to create music. It's something I've wanted for so long but has eluded me until now, due to having various bands and then them falling apart, person by person. Over this time I've still be writing heaps of songs and slowly teaching my self to play guitar and keyboards so I can get the melodies out of my head.... but, anyways I decided that's what I want to do. It's pretty empowering once you've made a decision like that. So wish me luck!
Friday I had dinner with a totally beautiful friend in New Farm, her friend cooked an amazing veggie pasta... they even went out and brought a vegetarian cook book that day to make dinner for me. I thought that was totally sweet... I haven't even known these people that long yet they go to all that trouble. They even made it all dairy free as they know I don't like to eat dairy either.
Saturday I spent most of the day dying my hair. It has a pink part in my fringe and it's all pink underneath at the back. I'll post pix on here of it soon. I love having pink hair it makes me happy and I've found it seems to make others around me happy too. Pink is the best colour. I also went over to BlackMarket Records HQ's to interview The Leopard Street Droogs and The Ordinary's... punk rock is definitely still alive and well and living in Brisbane that's for sure. It's so cool to see all these younger kids (I'm talking like 16-17) with mohawks. Thanks for the hospitality Toby. Saturday night, I went out in the valley... surprise, surprise! (I unfortunately missed the Brisbane SG hookup) I went to the Arena to see Dub Conspiracy (it was a whole bunch of New Zealand and Aussie reggae/dub bands). I didn't last all night there as it went till 5am and there's only so much dub/reggae a girl can handle. I spent part of the night downstairs people watching on the seats that look out into the street while having some drinks... as usual I met a whole assortment of people. While I was sitting there this guy came up to me and started chatting, he commented on my bindi I always wear when I go out and he said 'so, where are you from?' I said 'I'm from Australia' and he just looked at me and was like 'you're from Australia?' and I'm like 'Yes!' It's like how hard is that to believe? Just because I don't look like everyone else why do I have to come from some other country? He also pulled up the back of my shirt where my tattoo is and goes 'you're making a big statement with that!' As I pulled my shirt down and squirmed away from him I gave him the dirtiest look. I hate when people invade my personal space like that. The next interesting person I was a 33-year old blonde lady from the Sunshine Coast. I met her as I was starring out the window people watching and she just came up and gave me a big kiss on the lips and said 'hi gorgeous' (once again another stranger invading my personal space) as her boyfriend watched on. She came inside the bar and proceeded to chat with me. Her boyfriend went to the bar and brought some drinks and started flirting with a trashy looking brunette. This infuriated Miss Blonde and she proceeded to tell me how unhappy she was with him and he was a control freak and how he smashed up her car and hit holes in the wall and how he hit her once. Being in my mind-set it's not quite what I needed, but I listened. Then the brunette started touching her boyfriend and she was like 'that's it I can't take this, I have the car keys, see you later beautiful I'm leaving his arse'. With that she kissed me again said 'thanks' and left. Her now ex-boy came back with the drinks and the brunette close behind and was like 'what happened to her?' I said 'she's gone!' He shrugged his shoulders and turned to talk to Miss Brunette. She said 'I'm going home do you want to come?' She left without him and then talked to me for a few moments and made a flimsy excuse to leave... I know where he was going... to follow the brunette... I saw him meet her across the road! Later in the evening I saw Miss Blonde with another man too. While sitting at the bar an older couple who would have been around forty-ish tried to pick me up too! I also got a message from Erythrocytez saying he might come out with me after the SG hookup. I got a text later saying he couldn't and to blame Rockeeter... I wonder what that's about?
I moved onto the Family (I tried to get into the Sunbar to meet a friend I hate that place but was deemed too different looking and not enough Paris looking to get in). At Family I danced and danced and danced and lots of randoms came and talked to me. I also went upstairs to the Ice Bar and watched the bar dancers.... mmmmm.
Next was on to the Press Club where my friend I was met to meet at Sunbar said to meet them... they didn't show up or reply to my texts they're off my Christmas card list that's for sure! It's so rude when people do that, it's like if the party is happening for you else where tell me and I'll continue to party on my own and catch up with you later... Bianca's friend rule number 1: Never ever ever lie to her, even if the truth hurts it's better than being deceitful. I ended up going home at 4:30am with my super buddy and... well I'm sure you can all use your imaginations!
Sunday saw me chill out and watch an Italian film called Intacto about this guy who is the luckiest man in the world and can recognise the gift in others and take it away from them etc etc... I can't really describe it, it's a really complex film and a little hard to follow especially if you have a hangover but none-the-less it's really intriguing. My friend Hamish came to visit to, his going to Melbourne to live this week. I'm going to miss him. Bye Hamish!
.... which brings me to today! Public Holiday, hooray! Getting paid not to go to work... I love having a permanent job. I should find out about my other job this week, finally (it's only taken around two months)! Once again this has been a long post!!!
Have a beautiful week friends....

i'm thinking of Splendour.
Queens + Living end + Sarah Blasko on day 1 = the goods
although I'm seeing Sarah Blasko next week, and I'd rather see Queens solo (if they do a solo gig)
don't have much time to make up my mind - tix on sale 9 may - hopefully qotsa.com will be updated with tour info then.....
Sounds like you had a pretty weird night there.
