I just had the most wonderful 10 hour sleep, so I think I'm finally able to update you all about my fab trip to LA and Vegas last week for the 2006 Miss Exotic World Pageant. My first night in LA I went out for really good Mexican food with Geraldine, her mister and Cedar.
Thank you Cedar for letting me stay at your place for the week! The next morning I tagged along with Geraldine to work at SGHQ, is was so good meeting all the ladies who work there, and I haven't seen Missy in about two years, so it was quite a treat! And look at this cute elevator, I have an old architecture fetish:
I also had a chance to fulfil my stenographer fetish in the SG Steno Pool. I'm ready to take your dictation, sir!
That night I went to the Dresden, and realized just how gigantic I am next to all these petite LA girls. I stopped wearing heels shortly thereafter.
Thursday night I did my first show in LA (to a very sparse crowd) and got to meet the fabulous Selene Luna.
Thanks to the members who came out to see me, let me know who you are so I can thank you again! Also, the fabulous Amina came out to see my show, I hadn't seen her since the Probot video shoot a couple years go, so it was good to catch up. She took some fab pictures of my number that night too, here's my favourite:
The next morning, bright and early (are you noticing the no-sleeping-in pattern yet?), Geraldine and her man picked up Amina and I for our road trip to Las Vegas, woo! On our first night there, we went to the Fourty Deuce, ostensibly to see burlesque. While the ladies there were talented dancers, it was by no means the sort of show I would recommend or bill as burlesque, so be warned. Also the sleazy crowd wasn't good for anything but our own amusement. I'll never forget baby-dance man and his VIP harem.
The next night we ladies went to see the Thunder From Downunder. My first male revue, thank you Amina! The things you are allowed to do to those poor men, I hope they are well paid. I was a good girl, honest. Afterwards, we joined the boys and Zero at the Beauty Bar, and had a wicked good time. Although seriously Vegas, stop with the smoking indoors thing, it's killing me! I'm so pampered here in Victoria with the no-smoking bylaw, and I believe LA has the same deal. Here are some shots from that night:
Clearly, Elzig and I were enjoying the spectacle, and I must admit I was wishing those were my hands and not Geraldine's, haha.
The next day Amina took me to the Miss Exotic World pool party, where I caught up with Seattle's Vienna Le Rouge who picked up a well deserved Most Classic at the competition the night before:
And I saw Lolita Haze, another great classic burlesque performer who I met at the Vancouver Burlesque Fest earlier in the year.
Then we sat around waiting to do my run-through for the show that night, which never happened since they ran out of time. Sorry to make you wait, Amina, but dang girl, who looks hotter waiting around?
She looks way better in my Coquette Faux Furriers custom cape than I do, and look at her adorable Chanel slippers! Classiest dresser ever.
We fit in a bunch of photoshoots throughout the weekend, I can't wait to share them with you all!
That night was the long-awaited Closing Gala for the Miss Exotic World weekend. I got to meet a whole slew of burlesque stars backstage, including Kitten on the Keys from San Francisco:
Jewel Of Denial from LA:
and the most fabulous, World Famous *Bob*!
The next morning again I got up early to head back to LA, although this time we got stuck in more hours of traffic than I thought possible. However, with Geraldine and Zero in the car, and the new Morrissey album playing, traffic can only be a good thing. I got taken out to dinner at Real Food Daily (drool!) by the ever-lovely Missy, and then on to my show at the Tease at 3s, where the SG turnout really made my day. Thanks so much everyone, it was my best show of the week for sure! The other dancers were amazing also, I hope some of you got pictures to show me (Zero, I'm looking at you here). Here's a last picture of me and Missy, thank you so much for everything!
Phew! What a long entry! Time for me to get away from the computer for a while.
xoxo
