Two of my pieces were accepted into the "Skull & Bones" Group Show at Memento Mori Gallery and Tattoo! Check out the show if you're in the West Denver area in October 😈
These are the most personal artworks I've made, so far.
"Pastel Goth" was for my Inner Teenager. My mom was constantly asking me in High School, "you're not going goth on me are you?!" whenever I was wearing black or had dark nail polish on 🙄 When showing her this piece, she laughed her ass off, admitted she was a crazy mom, and thanked Cannabis for chilling her out. I could feel my teenage self gaining some redemption.
My other piece, "Brain Rot" was partially inspired by my dad. He had a cancer scare this summer. He had brain surgery and they removed a cyst that was growing for DECADES and was actually fused to his skull 😱 He's fine now!!!
During this time, though, a long-time platonic relationship was also ending. I'm still healing from that, but this piece was heavily inspired by my last scroll through their Twitter and seeing just how self-obsessed but also bitter they had become. It was like they were rotting from the inside out. The missing jaw and dangling tongue signify the end of communication, the lack of closure, and feeling left hanging.
Show Dates are October 6-28. Opening Reception is October 6, 6-9pm with live music and refreshments 🥰
