The first movie I saw in the movie theater was The Bear, or L'ours. I was either three or four at the time, and I remember that the theater seemed enormous to me. The next film I remember seeing in the theater was Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The local theater (one big screen movie theater) had a food drive or something: Bring some non-perishable food and see a movie. I remember asking what non-perishable meant and not understanding what it was. That movie scared the shit out of me. After the movie my mom took me to the ice cream place down the street. Later that night I awoke, screaming according to mom, from a nightmare. I remember the dream too. I was at the same ice cream place with my mom, and the ships from Close Encounters flew by us on the street, and I woke up screaming. The next movie I saw in the theater, one that I'm proud of being able to say: yeah I saw that movie when it came out...in theaters. The movie was Jurassic Park, and I was seven years old. Now that was a movie to bring a kid too! The following year, I saw the Lion King in the same one big screen movie theater. That movie changed me. But I don't know how.
