okay, so last night a tragedy occurred.
well, it didn't affect me but it still sucked...
okay, so you know how sometimes, despite the fact that you always regret ever thinking it up, you sometimes desire to see a whole bunch of your friends at once? at a restaurant? (bad idea.) well, i did that. i nonchalantly invited a good number of people, who in turn invited their own friends, and it turned into a controlled hullabaloo. it was fun...yay. i left early and confidently thought "well, that went better than most large gatherings i've been to in public spaces."
i was wrong.
upon my waking up this morning i noticed that two of my friends had aptly pointed out that after i had left the restaurant, and when the bill came for everyone's food, THEY had to chip in an extra fucking $25 because it seemed as though somebody in the large congealed mass of people had decided to be a cheap mother.
of course, this angered me beyond belief. i feel morally responsible for some reason because someone i know, someone who only came because i told them about it, eneded up costing my two friends extra money.
why does this always happen? why do large groups at restaurants always = someone having to pay too much money to make up for cheap skates?
if you don't have enough money to pay for your food AND your waiter/ress's fucking TIP don't EAT WITH ME! just because y ou're invited doesn't mean you have to go.
**i must note however that there is a slight chance the excessive amount of money my two friends had to chip in might have been the restaurant's fault.
this put aside, it is still fucking my worst nightmare to go out with people who refuse to pay their share. people, you're not getting over on anyone, you're not thwarting the Man, or escaping tipping your waiter/ress....you're fucking around with the other people sitting with you at the table. you're stealing from them. jesus christ. haven't you ever seen Reservoir Dogs?! it's RUDE.
okay, i feel better.
Wow I actually found an aspects of the olympics i care about =)

I definitely planned to return. And I await news on the "invention of biology"

this is the reason I don't offer to pick up lunch for coworkers anymore - someone will stiff you for tips and/or tax. one current coworker apparently refuses to tip people, but regularly eats in expensive establishments. what the hell, people - if you can afford to eat out, you can afford the extra 20% for tip plus tax.
