Anyway, I'm not sure if you got your D&D on yet, but if not and you're overwhelmed by the rules, you may want to consider an earlier edition of the game or one of the recently popular retro clones. Both of those options are far simpler and cheaper (used copies or free LEGAL pdf files) that the current editions. I'm more than willing to point you in a few directions. That is, of course, if you're still interested.
