OMG you guys, I'd be honored to tell you all about my best friend! In fact, I wish she was here as a hopeful!! A member at the very least ;)
My bestie's name is Andrea and we have been friends for about 24 years now!!When I was five years old, my mother and I moved from Bangor to South Portland, a bigger, nicer town two hours south. I was horrified to start a new school (even though I was only five and had about zero friends). I was waiting at the bus stop at the end of my street with my mother when I met her. Even then my soon to be BBF had beautiful brown eyes and the ass of an angel (She's the Abbi to my Ilana on "Broad City").
Andrea and I are basically an old married couple. We've learned how to communicate with each other properly, even without talking. Her non verbals are very obvious to me! We have had some vicious fights in our time, but if you truly love someone you will work it out like we have learned to do. I would follow Andrea into hell. We live in the same city (for the first time in about four years) so that is very exciting for us.
We have been with each other through insanely crappy relationships/boyfriends, crazy roommates and geographical separations. We could talk everyday or even go months without talking and it will be like yesterday! I usually refer to her as my sister when we are meeting someone new. I'm pretty sure we will just live together eventually with all of our cats and dogs and books and just be international playgirls until one of of croaks. Sometimes it's not so nice dating myself or Andrea, because iit's pretty much like you're dating the both of us. I'm like her tough dad "no one's good enough for my little girl!" I've been know to get a little jealous of her boyfriends!
Andrea currently works as a librarian which is seriously the coolest thing to me. She's also currently attending grad school for her master's degree. I'm so proud of her! Andrea is seriously one of the smartest people I know; so eloquent and brilliant. She (usually) knows just what to say in any situation! She can be really tough on me and in the moment I can get defensive, but I need it. We look out for each other always and I know she's got my back.
So many adventures through the years! We've been to Warped Tour a few times together not to mention hundreds of concerts, we've partied at some real sketchy places in Boston as well as the most obscure places in the middle of Maine. We've both driven hours to save each other from less than desirable situations. Oh and it turns out we are eskimo sisters like ten times over, haha!
Andrea was even with me during my first SG shoot! We were on a very public beach so when people got close, she threw her blanket on me :)
What a smile; isn't she gorgeous?? Boy, I'm lucky to have such a beautiful best friend inside and out.
Here is a photo of us from last summer, we were attending a fund raiser and got to dress up as school girls! (I will attend any fund raiser if this is the dress code).
We attended a wedding last year and of course she fed me cup cakes.
"We're going out drinking, try to look sad about it."
Here's a photo from 2007, Benson with long hair!
December 2006, Andrea's 21st birthday. I was only 20 at the time (and would be for another year-we're both December babies) and we had our own apartment but she stayed in and partied with me instead of going out! BTW, maybe it's good she's not a member-she'd hate this picture, hahaha!
Try not to look at me on the left side of the photo, instead focus on mc chris and Andrea at the 2008 Warped Tour. We had a blast, but it was also devastating for us the come to the conclusion that the punk rock days of Warped Tour were waning. I mean, there's a fucking Katy Perry tent behind us. Don't get me wrong, I adore Katy Perry but her place is not at Warped Tour.
Then there was that time we were invited to a toga party and when we got there only one other dude was wearing a toga.
On a cruise last summer! (did I already mention how pretty she is??)
The Abbi to my Ilana, the Sailor Mars to my Sailor Moon, the Willow to my Buffy, the Shawn to my Cory and I wouldn't have it any other way. Eventually we will be the two, old reclusive ladies from the documentary "Grey Gardens" and just spend our old age together in a derelict mansion.
Thank you @missy @rambo and @lyxzen for the topic and I hope you all love Andrea now as much as I do!
