Haha! This is an interesting one! I've never been one for organized sports but I do like going to the minor league baseball, hockey and basketball games in my city. I played tennis all four years of high school, but being on a team was hard for me for some reason! I guess when I think "tennis" it's a very much "me vs. them" mindset. I also straight up did not wear our school colors and wore all black instead. Go figure.
But enough about my exciting athletic career! Let's discuss some others I like! Now since I'm from Maine, I'm obviously loyal to New England Patriots (Tom Brady please call me), Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins (all of you please call me). I LOVE hockey, I will watch it wherever and honestly it doesn't even have to be the Bruins, I don't care, I just love bearded men beating each other up on skates. It's a beautiful thing.
NOW let me segue in the world of professional wrestling here, now some might argue that it's not a real sport! Yes, we all know it is "fixed" and the guys and girls wrestling practice their moves and learn to take bumps, but does that mean it isn't a sport? That being said, it takes serious agility and athleticism to do the shit they do. A lot of dudes have passed away from this shit. Poor Mick Foley (one of my absolute favorites) literally gave his body to wrestling (along with so many others). Some other wresting favorites: Tommy Dreamer and his badass wife Beulah, Randy Savage (I love his girl, Miss Elizabeth too), The Rock (seriously though, call me), Tajiri, Mikey Whipwreck (he and Mick Foley had a fuckin awesome tag team match against the team Public Enemy back in the ECW days), Sasha Banks, Jay Lethal, and of course I have mad love and respect for ECW founder, Paul Heyman.
If you couldn't tell, I like a little of everything ECW (folded in the late 90's I believe), Ring of Honor, WWE (though I don't want to). But yeah! Let me know your thoughts, people! Do you think pro wrestling is a sport??
Thanks for the homework/blog inspo! @missy @lyxzen @rambo
